My Wagon….

I just came from Coffee Underground. I am still laughing. Directed at me from behind the counter “I’d kill to have that wagon you’re draggin’”. Maybe I should have been offended but, then again I don’t always have typical reactions to things (well,10 years ago I probably would’ve been offended but then again, 10 years ago I wanted a volkswagon cabriolet too, oh how times have changed….:-).

I just stood and laughed and was grateful.  The other girl behind the counter apologized for her co-worker but really, no apology needed. I may have lost a few things over the years, but my fruity booty has stood the test of time. Indeed, for as long as I can rememember it has been here. It’s like my trusty steed, truly, it has never left my side (err, back). In high school and college I wished it away but as my own idea of beauty and self acceptance has morphed so has my opinion of my “junk”. Ladies, if you got it, love it.

I

Thanks for sending in this pic! What welcome food for thought it must have been. I’ll keep this in mind as a mantra as I complete my training and my marathon draws nearer. And keeping with this notion, off I go! Well, to Turbokick that is…..

GSD

I love this acronym. It stands for “Getting S*** Done”.  I fell in love the term/concept immediately when I read an article years ago by Kristin Armstrong (yes, Lance’s ex) where she described in detail this concept as somewhat a personality trait. Basically, the “go to” people who seem to get it done, meet deadlines etc… have the GSD trait. They rarely, if ever, have to employ an excuse for failing accomplish something. We love these people, right? They are the best folks to work with, they are our best friends, and typically are great to be around. I think they also tend to be the best at meeting their goals in health/ fitness/ weight loss. It makes sense. So as spring and summer approach, (with the thought baring more skin looming), where do you stand with your goals? Have you reached them or are they still the same as they were 6 months ago? What have you allowed to stand in the way of hitting the mark? Is GSD in your DNA?

Biggest Loser

So last night I was watching Biggest Loser, right now it’s the only show I make time for and I really have to try at it! BUT this is probably the 3rd episode I’ve caught and I’m really captivated. There are a number of things that stick out to me as a trainer. First, the overwelming point that environment is one of the most important drivers for weight loss for these contestants. They all are most afraid of being sent home because they know how much harder weight loss is there…. THIS speaks volumes people! I’m sure it’s no different for the rest of us. Indeed, sabotage from even those who are supporters abounds at the workplace (donuts anyone?), at home, and in marketing messages (I’m lovin it!”. Obvious or subtle we all know they are around us. So what do we do about it?

Still getting the hang of this!

So I’ve changed the settings on this thing so it should be far easier to comment/post.  Let’s see…..
